Ian Crawford

Born in Brooklyn, New York in the year of the flood, Ian has been involved with and around music his entire life.

“Exploring the world and the human experience to derive emotion for my music. This is what drives the creative process for me. I rarely sit at the keyboard and say I'm going to write this type of song. I keep it organic and open myself up to the energy around me, to draw out the words and music. I write mostly from my point of reference although all artists are influenced by the artists who have come before them. I love the works of Stevie Nicks and Joni Mitchell for their raw and emotive songwriting. I love Aretha Franklin and Donny Hathaway for their incredible vocal talents and I admire artists like Bruce Springsteen and Madonna for their ability to command a stage and captivate an audience.  

I believe my compositions are signature from using modalities of various genres to create my style. Early in my career, the reoccurring critique from record executives was " We love what you do, but we don't know exactly where to put you", Like I was a new miracle hemorrhoid cream.   

I love it when people say "your stuff sounds like someone, but I just can't put my finger on it. The music and voice seem very familiar, yet different". For me, that is the greatest compliment I can receive.

Bearcelona festival - Camp Neo in Barcelona, Spain (capacity 105,000) 

Two time host of the Long Island pride parade 

Two year residency at Sunsets- Cherry Grove NY 

Honorary member of the NAACP (Suffolk County division) 

In addition to hosting events and performing for Greenpeace, the Elizabeth Taylor aids foundation and Make-a-Wish.
